Pete Carroll’s east coast “sleeping around” scheme

May 10th, 2007 by Mahini

Pete CarrollFirst us, then BC, and now the Orangemen. Man, this guy is tossing it around. Somebody missing the east coast a little too much?

In all seriousness, it appears that Southern Cal wants to plant a flag in the fertile east coast media and recruiting market. They’ve gotten a handful of studs from this corner of the country (Jarrett, Cushing and Hazelton spring to mind), so I’m betting that Carroll wants to turn that trickle into more of a stream. I’m sure the recruiting is almost automatic back west, so might as well put his football obsession to good use and target more 5-stars and richer media dollars up and down I-95.

Of course, all of that is bad news for the ACC and Big East schools. But, at least we’re getting to ride the coattails unlike most of our east coast brethren, seeing how USC was determined to play some games over here no matter what. And as a result, the good of being complicit in Carroll’s scheme far outweighs the bad of USC improving on what they already do: score the best recruiting talent nationwide.
