St. Christopher’s (Richmond, VA) linebacker/defensive end Ricky DeBerry Jr. has been offered by the University of Virginia.  The 6’2″, 230-pound standout, who had previously been offered by Purdue, reported the Cavaliers’ offer on his Facebook page.

DeBerry Jr. is only a sophomore, so both of these offers are of the verbal kind.  He can begin receiving official offers the August prior to his senior season.

A versatile prospect, DeBerry Jr. plays running back and defensive end for the Saints (Find highlights of DeBerry’s freshman season here.  He played mostly on the JV before moving to the varsity in the state playoffs.).

DeBerry Jr. was in Scott Stadium for UVa’s season opener against Richmond.
